I know that there are a lot of people using this forum who have doubts about the McCanns and Gerry in particular, but I think the overall opinion in the UK leans more towards being sympathetic towards them. I don't think the majority of people believe that they harmed Maddie and the outrage at the fact of them leaving their 3 babies alone and unprotected isn't voiced because people feel sorry for them because of their great loss? Famously Diana, now Orlando Bloom crashes while being chased by these vultures. I say make it illegal to follow them once they get in the car, it's just not on! I don't watch or buy any of that papparazzi fuelled tripe. Shouldn't be too difficult to police - just make it illegal and it shouldn't be too hard for the police to notice 20+ motorbikes chasing a car through the city streets, a flash of the lights and a few driving bans later, hey presto. There's nothing wrong with photographing celebs at galas and film openings etc, proper organised events where the press are invited and can get all the gossip they like, but to follow the Princes when they're just getting on with their lives is just not cricket. I don't care to see pictures of them sitting watching a football game, it's none of my business! Same goes for other celebs. The only thing the papparazzi contribute to a celeb's status is, shock horror, photos of them doing something slightly less than perfect.
