Best Answer To Birds Question
Do not spray them. They will live in fear of you their whole life! Instead, move their food bucket right next to the bird bath. If they do not go in soon, remove their water bucket. Then they will have no water will want the water in the bird bath. Also, the bird bath should be under a inch deap or they will panic.

Answer 6"Do not spray them"??? Uh... Not ONE of my birds I have ever owned have ever liked "puddle bathing". They would rather sprayed with a light spray from the kitchen sink -thingy- or misted by a spray bottle then bathe in plate, bowl or bath. Ahem- SPRAYING THEM AS A PUNISHMENT IS BAD BECAUSE MOST OWNERS BATHE THEM USING SQUIRT BOTTLES. I am sorry for the caps, but major corrections had to be made here. This is a factoid bird owners should live by if there is a chance the bird may need to be re-homed. The new owner WILL NOT KNOW THIS, and this nasty fear is hard to break if you need to administer topical treatments for skin ailments. I bought a large one for my cockatiels, and I had one for a Lovebird and one for an English Parakeet, and NONE of them liked them- which was funny because the Lovebird and Budgie would bathe in their water dish. If it is one of those covered ones, there is not much of a chance they will use it- especially if they cannot see out the cover or if the cover is anything other then clear. Most birds are quite shy about small spaces- this is why most birds need a big box to breed in due to the onset of claustrophobia. Tell you the truth, they are quite useless unless you need a second water supply if you are going to be gone for 3-5 days. Food does not get in them easily, and the water stays fresher. That's all I have been able to use them as for the past five years I have had them. Even with all of my perstance... Try it empty and putting a treat in there and let them get used to going in. Get a second one, when they have achieved going ALL the way in for food and fill that one with water, removing the drink bowl. It's almost guarenteed they will bathe in both, and it is easier to have to change only one. My birds never touched them (even with a treat inside), but I think this is just my whole flock talking.

Answer 8You want to put the bird bath in towards the middle of the cage away from the food and water. Also do not put cold water in there put it very mild warm not to warm like room temp. also keep away from the window due to cold make it kind of secluded they will feel more comfortable . Also you can use the same temp water inspray bottle and lightly spray them all a "FEW" sprays this will help them and encourage them. Spray them where the bath area dish is located this will help them see and feel where the shower is coming from. ok. :) Mary (Hope this helps)
