Car Audio. How Would I Go About Using My MP3 Player To Listen To Music In My Car With An Aftermarket Stereo.

I want to install an aftermarket stereo in my new car but i am planning to use an MP3 player to listen to my music in the car. What should I look for in a new stereo that would allow me to easily do this? I dont have an ipod and am not planning to buy or use one with my new stereo, my mp3 player would just be a regular one. I have seen aftermarket stereos with auxilary inputs in the front but most of them have them in the rear. Is this what I would use to connect my mp3 player to? does anybody listen to their mp3s in their cars a different way or have any ideas? ~~~ bluestorm2k ~~~

The Aux input is a good way to connect an MP3 player with a headphone o/p socket. You may need to get a suitable lead which can be readily purchased. Another idea is to get a stereo with a socket for SD cards. Copy your MP3 files to the card from your computer and plug it into the stereo. Some car stereos have the ability to plug in a USB drive with music files. The most labor intensive way to listen to MP3s is to get a stereo with a disc player that is capable of reading mp3 files and burn the music to disc.

Answer 5

The aux input is what you use for the mp3 player. You can get the adapter from a place like radioshack that connects from your mp3 player to the radio aux input and your good. Also, you can run a plug to the rca input on some aftermarket radios that have them. Again you just buy the plaug from radioshack or Walmart and plug it in and your good. You can get either plug for 5 bucks or so, no need to spend $20 on the expensive ones for a plain system.
