Car Audio. What Is The Most Ingenuitive Use You Have Found For A 12v Relay.

I have used them to switch between 2 head units, I blacked out the lights with one switch on a bounty hunter's car, and used a relay once to disengage cruise controll triggered by an aftermarket radar detector. I was just looking for your ideas and creativity. ~~~ cplkittle ~~~

I really enjoy working with relays and discovering new ways to use them. I have used them in multiple applications with success almost every time. My most recent use was to activate a small Piezo Beep on my Accord when the parking lights flashed with the ignition off to hear an audible sound when the factory alarm was turned on and off. Didn't like hitting the button twice to hear the horn honk. I've use a pair of relays to turn on two driving lights I had hooked up to the back of my Ranger. The conditions for them turning on were that the parking lights had to be on and the transmission in reverse. If the two conditions were not met, they would not turn on. However, I also had a manual switch to turn them on for additional lighting when trying to do something in behind the truck which also was wired through those two relays. I had another Yahoo member ask me once if they could use a cigarette lighter to dis-engage their sub amp momentary which I was eager to draw up a design for him. It wired in to his remote line and if he was to press the lighter in, it would disconnect the power to the remote turn on for the amp for a while. Not sure if he used it or not, but I enjoyed figuring it out for him. .P.

How about a stun gun? I used a solid state relay in '86 to make the first remote start system for my car. I was just playing around, who knew that 3 years later they would hit the market. I could be in the Bahama's right now.
