Etiquette : How Much Do You Pay A Squeegee Kid For Cleaning Your Windshield
I live in a neighbourhood near the city centre and I often come upon someone who wants to clean my windshield. What's the going rate? Also, I was wondering-if it's illegal for them to do it, is it illegal for me to pay them? There has been some controversy here about it and so I just wonder what kind of debate goes on elsewhere about it. ~~~ Tavita ~~~

Answer 1Pay em 2 bucks!
Answer 2Just yell no thank you out the window. Don't encourage such behavior by rewarding it.
Answer 3Nothing unless you ask them to do it. I just hate pushy people.
Answer 4You could always wave to them not to clean your window. If they are not paying taxes for the income it is illegal. If you are fined just claim you didn't know they didn't have a permit to clean windows.
Answer 5I personally wouldnt pay them, but if you feel compelled, and since you didnt ASK for that service to be done, a buck or two would suffice. Me personally, I am uncomfortable if some approaches me while I am in my car. This world and this time you just arent sure who is good or bad... I believe what they are doing is some type of panhandling and in most places, it is against the law, however I highly doubt the police would do much about that except for shoo them on their way. I know it is more common in the larger cities, and in the smaller areas, cops strongly discourage it and are a bit more no-nonsensed approaching the subject.
Answer 6First, ill ask him what solution are you spraying on the he will show me what he is spraying on it. The price would be $10.
Answer 7I guess a few dollars wouldn't be too bad. However, I once witnessed a female driver take a window cleaner into an alley and give him a blow jöb. I guess she really wanted to show her appreciation! The choice is yours.
Answer 8When I go to the car wash they have the guys at the end of the automatic washer wiping the car and windshield down. I usually tip them fifty cents, remind you where I go it is very busy. I don't approve of the illegals working there but then again, no kids want to do these jobs. I can't imagine the illegals not wanting to become citizens. They are costing USA alot of $MONEY$. There is controversy about it everywhere. I used to live in Florida. The state. I hated it. I saw so many ilegals working and sending their money back home. Which really pissed me off. I hope you understand where I am coming from!
Answer 9Normally, a dollar is plenty, but if you didn't ask for it and didn't want it done, you are not obligated to pay for it. In the name of personal security, never roll your car window down any further than is necessary to slip a dollar bill or single coin (half-dollar) to a stranger for doing this. Never give a stranger the option of grabbing you nor any part of you. Always drive with the car doors locked.
Answer 10I am not sure about the legality, but you are hardly going to be prosecuted for it are you? As far as payment goes, gold coin
