Answer 8Junior golfer is a wide range. I've had 12 year olds driving the ball 225 yards with the correctly shafted club. There is no particular standard. It's mostly dependent on your training and ability.
Answer 9It also depends on weather conditions and what part of the country you live in. If it's cold out the ball won't go as far. I don't know the exact effect, but I'm guessing a 30 degreee change in temperature takes 10 yards off the flight of the ball. Also, if it's wet out, the humidity in the air creates more resistence and the ball won't go as far. Again, it's hard to quantify, but I would guess on a really wet day you'll lose another five yards of ball flight as compared to a really dry day. Also, - altitude. If you hit in Denver it's going to go a lot further than at sea level, simply because there is LESS air and thus less air resistance. And, if it's a dry day and the fairways are dry you could get as much as 50 YARDS of roll. If the fairways are soggy your ball might plug and you'll get ZERO roll. So - yesterday, 50 degrees in Seattle at sea level with soggy fairways, a good drive for me was 240. I'm guessing if I had hit that same drive in Phoenix at 100 degrees with dry fairways it would have been 280 at least. When I missed a fairway yesterday i had to wait while the group on the next hole hit their drives. one of them was a decent, low drive of about 200 yards that landed right near me, so I could see exactly how much roll they got and it was not more than 5 yards - almost nothing. Also, if you're hitting on the driving range - range balls, although they can be of various qualities, won't go as far as a quality golf ball. And lastly, worry less about how far you're hitting the ball and concentrate more on hitting it straight.
Answer 10distance doesn't matter! it's short game which really allows you to score well!
Answer 11Drive in anywhere in the 250 range and you'll be in the game. The most important thing is to drive it STRAIGHT. I'm not a big hitter (my drives are 260 or so), but i just strive to hit every ball straight, and keep it on the fairway. Then you will have a great chance of hitting it on the green than from the rough or the trees.
