Other Pets : How Do I Teach My Baby Bunny To Use A Water Bottle
Hi :) I just got a baby bunny today. She's very small, so I'm assuming she's only around a month old or so. Anyhow, she will only drink out of a water dish. I am assuming this is because of her age, but I also have a watter bottle up for her. Is there any way to train her to use the water bottle instead or will she eventually just use it when she's a little older? ~~~ Shnell ~~~
Best Answer To Other Pets Question
Take away the water dish and lift her nose to the bottle several times a day.

Answer 1Take away the water dish and lift her nose to the bottle several times a day.
Answer 2When she is a little older she will start to use the bottle, just make sure she always knows where it is.
Answer 3Well, if you try dribbling a little out for her to drink, she might take to it. If you don't offer any milk out of the dish, she will probably get to the point where she won't refuse it out of the bottle because she is very hungry.
Answer 4She will use it a few days after you stop putting a water dish.
Answer 5JAM IT IN ITS LITTLE MOUTH!!!!!!!!
Answer 6u have to get the bunny. open its mouth. let the bottle drip and do not force but let a few drops get in its mouth it might get satisfied and want more.
Answer 7she probably will when she's older, but if you really want her too you can put a little treat where the water drips out of the bottle, and eventually she'll figure out that's the place to drink from.
Answer 8When I Got My Rabbit I Used To Squirt Water Out Of The Bottle So My Rabbit Could See What Was In There Then She Just Started Drinking Out Of It! Lol
Answer 9You just got your baby bunny today, so don't sweat it. If she gets thirsty, she will smell water and try to get to it, and she will discover the water bottle. It's instinctive. Make sure she gets her bowl of water several times a day, though, so she does not become dehydrated. Such a small animal could be very sensitive to dehydration.
Answer 10Do NOT remove the water crock until bunny learns to use a water bottle. They must have access to water at all times. Being that she is a baby bunny it may be quite some time before she is ready for a bottle. The water bottles are not that great an issue, my rabbits don't like them and I don't force them to use them they prefer water crocks and they are much easier to keep clean.
Answer 11It is my understanding that rabbits can smell water. Try leaving the water bowl in the cage along with the water bottle until the bowl is empty. Show her the bottle a few times and she should get the hang of it.
